Even though Vaser liposuction is usually a quick and easy procedure, there is still a certain amount of aftercare needed
Having gone through the physical trauma and emotional stress of a surgical procedure, it is sensible to do everything in your power so as not to undo what the treatment has accomplished. There are certain measures that can be taken to make the most of your recovery.
During the Vaser procedure only local anaesthetic is used so it is possible for you to leave the clinic soon after the operation, but for this reason you will experience a certain numbness in that body part until the anaesthetic has worn off. During this time you will need to be careful with your movements so you do not bump or strain the body part in question as a result of not being able to feel any sensation there.
This also means that any pain which may arise will only do so a few hours later. Preferably by this time you are at home and comfortable and able to take some pain killers and rest. The pain after Vaser Liposuction should not be unbearable and it is perfectly normal to take painkillers for a few days after the procedure to make yourself more comfortable.
Immediately after the operation, you will be given compression garments. These are to be worn as much as possible for as long as possible. They will probably be a little uncomfortable as they are made to be tight, but it is important that these be worn under your normal outfits for a few weeks. These garments will help in reducing swelling and maintaining shape.
We have further therapy options available
For the first few days after the treatment, you will find that the incisions that were made during the operation will leak, secreting a watery or even bloody liquid. This is completely normal and though slightly unpleasant, is easily dealt with with absorbent materials and towelling. Here it is important to take care of your incisions and keep them clean and as dry as possible to prevent infection.
After your Vaser liposuction treatment, you will be given diet and exercise advice and other recommendations. It is important that you heed this advice and do not overexert yourself or exercise too much too soon after the treatment. Further recommendations may include drainage sessions and massage therapy. This therapy has proven to be extremely popular with our patients as it helps alleviate stiffness and can improve blood flow.
Finally, follow-up appointments are necessary for a few months after the procedure to check on your progress. It is imperative that these be attended as it is important for the doctor to keep an eye on your progress, but if you have followed the correct aftercare procedure, you should have nothing to worry about.
