What are the key differences?

For the last fifty years or so, people have become more and more concerned with their physical appearance and as a result, cosmetic surgery procedures have become more and more popular. There are now a whole range of cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments which you can have done. In fact, it can be downright confusing to decipher all the information that is available and decide what is right for you.

Even when it comes to liposuction, there are a number of different procedures which are available. While they all basically perform the same procedure, there are numerous differences between them. Before liposuction, the only way to remove fat was to cut it out, but now liposuction is able to remove pockets of fat through suction. In this respect, all liposuction treatments are the same. In addition to this, all liposuction procedures involve the tumescent technique as the first step of the liposuction procedure. This is when fluid (a saline solution with anaesthetic) is injected into the area to undergo the procedure, before the fat is sucked out.

Vaser Lipo is proven to be less invasive

So the different liposuction techniques differ in how the fat is then removed. In vaser liposuction, a cannula is inserted and ultrasonic energy breaks up and emulsifies the fat so it can be removed. Smart lipo, on the other hand, uses laser energy to do the same thing. While this may not seem like a big difference, ultrasound energy has been proven to be less invasive as it does not involve the use of lasers.

Of course, there are pros and cons to all treatments and procedures. The best way to make sure you are signing up for the best possible treatment (to get the best possible results) is to find a suitably qualified surgeon. As you can imagine, the results of liposuction depend for the most part on the skill of the surgeon.

Because there are so many machines available to doctors to perform liposuction, it is very easy for doctors to proclaim themselves as experts after receiving only a few days’ training. However, it is important that you find a doctor who has experience with real patients as this is the only real training that is necessary. A doctor is only as good as his reputation and a doctor needs patients before he can be considered a good surgeon. Even if he may have a lot of experience with other surgical procedures, it is important that he has experience particularly with vaser liposuction. With Advanced Lipo Centre you are in the safe hands of DR. Bassi, one of the UK’s leading vaser specialists who is a member of the British Medical Laser Association & General Medical Council.
