Vaser Liposuction is lower risk than traditional Lipo
Any surgical procedure comes with its own risks, and this is usually the most worrying factor for anyone considering a treatment. When ultrasonic liposuction was first used in the 1980s, it was possible for patients to be exposed to the ultrasound energy which caused burns or tissue damage. Thankfully Vaser liposuction technology was developed in 1998 because of these risks.
The Vaser liposuction device is able to reduce – and basically eliminate – the risk of overexposure to ultrasound energy through the use of probes. These probes ensure that the ultrasound energy is only targeted on the fat cells and so there is no exposure or damage to any other tissue. The fat is this emulsified by the vibrations which makes it easier to remove. This too reduces any risk of unnecessary damage or bruising.
On a serious note, there is always a small chance of a risk becoming a reality and it is sensible to be aware of these risks. Whenever ultrasound technology is used, burns are still a risk for the area being targeted. Fat clots or blood clots may form during suction, which could cause serious illness. After the operation, there will be a certain amount of seepage from your incisions. There is a risk that this may be in excess. Finally, bruising and swelling are a very real risk, the most likely of all the risks. However, this is usually minimal and should subside after 24 hours.
Always use an experienced doctor
The biggest risk, in fact, has nothing to do with the technology used. The biggest risk is from your doctor. Vaser liposuction technology uses state-of-the-art equipment and can achieve amazing results in the right hands. In the wrong hands, it can be a dangerous weapon, either resulting in no change whatsoever or, even worse, causing damage during the procedure. It is important to ensure that your doctor is not only qualified but also experienced with Vaser liposuction technology. Considering that the technology has been around for a few years, there is no reason for you to put your trust in an inexperienced doctor. In general then, Vaser liposuction has significantly fewer risks than other liposuction techniques. Of course there are still risks but these are minimal and if you are in capable hands, then you should have nothing to worry about.
